Our vision is to foster an interest in music and related performing arts in Kingston and its surrounding area.
The Kingston Kiwanis Music Festival has taken place every year since 1973. Over the years it has evolved to keep pace with changes in the music scene, participants’ preferences, teachers’ requests, and requirements for participation in the Ontario Music Festival Association provincial competitions. But the basic vision, mission, and values of the Festival have remained the same.
Our mission is to organize and promote an annual amateur music festival for musicians and other performing artists living in Kingston and the surrounding area.
We encourage participation at all age levels with an emphasis on young performers. Our focus is on the performance and knowledge of classical music, speech arts, classical voice, popular music, and music theatre.
Our festival provides participants with feedback from expert adjudicators from outside our community to encourage excellence and to bring new ideas to this area.
We see the festival as an important step in the education of participants in their journey towards excellence in performance.
The Kingston Kiwanis Music Festival, founded by the Kiwanis Club of Kingston, is now a standalone charitable organization to benefit our community without gain for its members.
